The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated on the 7th of April every year. The theme of World Health Day 2018, which also marks the 70th anniversary of WHO, is Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere and the slogan is Health for All.
“In line with this, the Governor Ayade led administration has been steadily and consistently making progressing towards achieving UHC in the State through the provision of state-of-the-art equipment in both primary and secondary facilities in the State, especially those found in the hinterlands. the State has also gained full accreditation for the first time in the history of the State to complement the efforts of the state government in employing health workers following the lifted embargo on employment and the employment advert placements.
The State Health Insurance Scheme which is scheduled to be launched within the second quarter with the construction of three Ayadecare referral hospitals already ongoing in Akpabuyo, Etung Obudu LGA respectively, the upgrading and renovating of primary and secondary facilities in the State as well as the various medical outreaches and health campaigns by the Mediatrix Development Foundation (MDF), the pet project of Her Excellency, Dr. Linda Ayade represents some of the efforts of the State in her UHC drive.” -Dr. Inyang Asibong; Commissioner for Health
Today the State Government partnered with the Military on a sensitization and wellness work in the Calabar Metropolis and concluded with a free medical outreach and symposium at the 13th Brigade Barracks in Calabar.
