Ugep Agog , As Youths/ Students Pledge Support For Prince 7

The City of Ugep, Capital of Yakurr Local Government Area, on Sunday, 10 June, 2018, stood still, with every kit and kin pledging support for Prince Godswill Osim Edward (popularly known as ‘Prince 7’), as the race for Abi/Yakurr Federal Representative intensifies.

The people’s messages of solidarity for the young and aspiring Prince Edward were expressed during an Interactive Session of Youths/Students of Yakurr, held at Ugep.
In her opening remarks, the organizer of the event, Ms. Happiness Ubi stated that the purpose of the gathering was to enable youths and students of Yakurr interface with and quiz the Abi/Yakurr House Representative hopeful of his blueprint for the Federal Constituency.
Ubi who described Prince Edward as a selfless leader with a penchant for accountability and effective representation, enjoined youths, students and the entire people of Yakurr to support a leader that is ready to blaze new trails for a people who have hitherto suffered neglect and misrepresentation.
Also speaking, the President of Ugep Students Association Worldwide, Comrade Patrick Williams averred that the time is indeed come for youths to take their rightful place as the trustees of posterity by taking leadership positions, adding that Prince Edward has become a leading light for youth emancipation.
While assuring the aspirant of his Association’s support, Williams lauded Edward’s youth-friendly disposition, pointing out that his philanthropic programmes, such as Abi/Yakurr Sport Fiesta and scholarship programme, have encouraged education, engendered development and forestalled youth restiveness.
Articulating her views, Special Assistant to the Governor on Budget, Newi Ibangha, described Prince Edward as a ‘proven leader’ with the welfare and betterment of his people his major priority.
The SA charged youths to seize the opportunity of the forthcoming elections and take their pride of place as heart of every society, quipping that supporting Prince Edward is the beginning of better things particularly for the youth and people of Abi/Yakurr in general.
Responding, the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency aspirant, Prince Godswill Osim Edward thanked the people for reposing trust in him and promised that, God-willing, come 2019, the people will begin to witness a new dimension of representation and impactful leadership in the lower legislative house.
“The dynamics of politics have changed. We need to take action. Our youths and indeed the people need someone who can ensure effective representation. And with all sincerity of purpose and intent, I assure you that I can deliver in that front,” Prince Edward remarked.
“You all belong to my generation. We need leadership that is accessible, purposeful and all-encompassing leadership,” he continued.
Prince Edward outlined his blueprint for Abi/Yakurr to include Peace and Unity; Youth Development; Women Development; Rural Development; Creation of Liaison Offices in Abuja, Lagos and Calabar; Students’ Scholarship Scheme; and Recognition of the Traditional Institution.
The House of Representative hopeful, who wowed the crowd with the fire of his eloquence, said his ambition for the people’s mandate is borne out of the burning desire and proclivity to render quality service and representation to a people who have longed and yearned for it.
Earlier, as a build up to the Interactive Session, Prince Edward and his entourage visited the Obol Lopon of Ugep, His Royal Majesty, Obol Ofem Ubana in his palace to felicitate with him on the addition of a new baby to his dynasty and also inform him of his intention to vie for the Abi/Yakurr Federal legislative position, as well receive Royal Father’s blessings.
Welcoming guests, His Royal Majesty, Obol Ofem Ubana thanked Prince Edward for the felicitations and deeming it necessary to visit and intimate him of his intention, adding that it has always been his dream to see youths engage in activities that yield positive results to the society.
The Royal Father, who described Edward’s intention as ‘timely,’ urged the aspirant to remain resolute in pursuing his goals, as well as play politics that is devoid of rancor and acrimony. Obol Ubana blessed the Prince with royal prayers.
Highpoints of the Interactive Session featured questions from youths and students, responses by the aspirant and goodwill messages from the high profile delegation that accompanied Prince Edward to the event, notably, the SA to Benue State Government on ICT, Mr. Jeffery Udende and ICT mogul and politician, Hon. Oladotun Mahinuori; while others were from opinion leaders and stalwarts in Yakurr.
The event also had in attendance youth and students leaders from all the wards that make Yakurr Local Government Area.
