Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has extended his congratulatory messages to the victorious Super Falcons that conquered Africa on Saturday.
The Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated South Africa’s Bayana Bayana 4-3 on penalties to lift their eleventh Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Ghana. The victory also mean that Nigeria and South Africa would represent Africa at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup slated for France.
However, Okowa insisted that the team’s victory has restored the nation’s pride and confidence as far as Africa women’s football is concern.
“I commend the Falcons for their resilience and determination. They have made us proud and it is my hope that they will consolidate on this victory to represent Nigeria effectively at the FIFA Women World Cup tournament in France next year”.
“This victory no doubt has restored our national pride and confidence as the most successful team in the tournament having won the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations title for a record ninth time out of 11 times”.
