…Targets More Institutional Bills Beneficial To Cross River
In a bid to ensure that the people of Cross River State enjoy the dividends of good governance, Senator representing Cross River South Senatorial District in the senate, Senator Gershom Bassey has sponsored a bill to establish a College of Forestry Technology and research in Akamkpa. The Bill scaled through first reading on the floor of the senate today.
The bill which is part of some other bills that have been sponsored by the able and amiable senator would help to facilitate educational advancement, job creation, grant admission to the indigenes, and provide infrastructural development within the state.
Barr. Ita Essien, the Senior Legislative Aide to Sen. Gershom Bassey discloses this to Voplink Media on Tuesday from Abuja.
He stated that the Senator believes that establishment of the College of Forestry Technology and Research Bill is necessary considering the fact that the state and Akamkpa in partucular possesses one of the riches and widest forest cover in the whole of West Africa.
He Stated that Senator Gershom Bassey is determined ensure his people recieve sustainable empowerement that will have a lifetime impact rather than transcient and cheap gains.
Ita said that it is the Senator’s belief that since experts from other colleges of forestry e.g Colleges of forestry in Ibadan, Jos, New Bosa Afaka in Kaduna and foreigners do come to Akamkpa to carry out research on forest resources and specie, a College of forestry in Akamkpa is welcome.
And the benefit the college of forestry will give to the people include employment opporunities, admission will be given to Akamkpa indigenes and infrastructures will be built as well.
Also, you may recall that four months ago, Senator Bassey sponsored a bill for the establishment of a polythecnic in Akpabuyo. His basic format of leadership is to empower the people permanently, so that the people can clearly point out the gains of his tenure.
