The Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Mr. Victor Omaga Odo has maintained that his party is on course to continue its dominance in the State beyond the forthcoming 2019 elections.
Mr. Odo bared his mind on the subject during an exclusive interview with Voplink Media, recently in his office in Calabar.
The PDP Chieftain, while explaining the readiness of his party in the 2019 polls, added that August, 2018, the PDP will be 20 years in existence and 2019 will also mark 20 years of the PDP’s active dominance in Nigerian politics, which according to him, is a testament to the party’s solid foundation, longevity and sustainable democratic values.
Lambasting the All Progressive Party (APC) as a party comprised of renegades and political apostates, Mr. Odo said the chaos and ignominy that characterized the APC conventions both in Cross River State and national levels attest to the incongruity and negative change brought to Nigeria in barely three years of leading the country.
The State PDP Secretary urged Cross Riverians to continue to keep faith in PDP, a party he described as “a trusted and reliable entity,” adding that PDP will continue to hold sway in the State and delivering democratic dividends to the citizenry, as opposed to the social media and unfounded politics played by the APC.
He also assured Cross Riverians that, unlike the APC that is synonymous with chaos and in-fighting, the PDP is internally democratic enough to keep its house in order and allow a level playing ground for aspirants vying for positions in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking further, Odo averred that the palpable infrastructural and urban development of the Donald Duke and the rural and educational strides of the Liyel Imke’s administrations, coupled with the industrialization and agricultural revolution of the present administration are tangible evidences of what the PDP can do and will continue to do for the people of the State.
He maintained that though credible opposition is the beauty of democracy, in Cross River State, no other party has proved enough mettle to stage any meaningful opposition, hence foreseeing another landslide victory for PDP in Cross River State, come 2019.
