PDP deplect APC political arsenal as more than 2700 persons dump the broom for the umbrella in Mfamosing, Akamkpa


More than 2700 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojuk North Ward, Mfamosing, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State have dumped the party for the People’s Democratic party (PDP).

In a grand occasion held at the Mfamosing Multi-purpose Town Hall on Saturday, January 4, 2019 and facilitated by a Political Support Group, known as Grand Evolution canvassing total support for Ayade in the March 2, 2019 gubernatorial in the State, the decampees were officially received by the State Chairman of PDP, Ntufam Edim Inok Edim who was represented by the Chairman, Youth Mobilization and state Campaign Council, PDP, Cross River, Prince Ita Eke Effefiong.

Speaking while receiving the over 2700 decampees who returned to PDP, the party’s representation assured them that they Will be fully accommodated in the party bearing in mind that they were all members of PDP before they left stressing that their return was merely a coming back home and as such are not strangers and cannot be refer to as decampees.

He emphasised the need for all of them who have return home to PDP to work hard individually and collectively to ensure that Governor Ayade achieve a landslide victory for the March 2 polls, adding that it will be sheer injustice to deny Ayade and the north a second term when the south and the central had each enjoyed eight years between 1999-2015.

The state PDP representative, Prince Effefiong there commended the returnees for taking a bold step and the right decision and that they would be remembered on the right side of history because they stand for and voted for justice, equity and fairplay in the political interpay amongst the three senatorial districts of the state.

On his part, the Director General of Grand Evolution, a political support group for Senator Ben Ayade reelection, Mr. Gabriel Abegim Adah, lauded all those who had summoned the courage to return to their original Political family, PDP, stressing that home is home, and that if it is not your original home , PDP it cannot be the same thing like it, nor can you receive the same treatment you are given at home elsewhere.

Mr. Adah praised all the PDP political leaders in the areas and Grand Evolution as a group who worked behind the scene to ensure that members of PDP who had left the party for one reason or the other come back to the party to jointly move PDP at all levels to greater heights and to be in government from the national to the state, senatorial, federal/state constituencies and Local Government Areas.

The Grand Evolution DG said that he was impressed by the large turn out of people to welcome the delegation to the venue and assured that every person would be treated fairly and equally in the party irrespective of their Social and economic status.

Also speaking, a former member of CRHA and daughter of Ejagham, Rt.Hon. Uduak Akiba, thanked those who have taken the right course to come back to PDP and that the party is traditional to Cross River State and that no party can take the place of PDP in the state, stressing the need for all to stand for justice and fair play by allowing Ayade and the north to enjoy a second tenure as.did the other two candidates and senatorial districts.

A member of Grand Evolution, Mr. Phil Anthony also welcomed the returnees and praised them for the courage to come back home and added that the only qualification for any of them to become a member bof Grand Evolution is to possess an authentic PVC and be committed to the ideals of the great party, PDP.

In his remarks, a PDP stalwart in Ojuk North, Mfamosing, Mr. Magnus Ntui, assured the decampees that they will be fully reintegrated into the PDP family (the umbrella (☂️) family) in the state and the nation and that with the return of the decampees, there is no more political opposition in the land and that it is PDP all the way.

A one time Councillor representing the Ward, Hon. Augustine Bassey Etim, thanked all those who return to PDP and assured that nobody will ill-treated within the umbrella family in the state and admonished them to prepare to give Governor Ayade massive votes during the March 2, 2019 gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state.

Responding on behalf of the returnees to PDP from APC, the former Coordinator of APC in the area, Mr. James Ojong, assured that the return of the decampees to PDP was total and final and that they are ready nto give their all for the success of not just Ayade reelection but also the victory of all PDP candidates from the national to the state and local government areas.

Mr. Ojong explained that the public burning of their brooms, the symbol of APC was a clear indications that they have return home for good and that together they will work to ensure victory for the 2019 general elections and other future elections in the state and country.

The PDP and Grand Evolution team had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Echi Atui, His Royal Majesty (HRM) , Ntufam Clement Emayip, Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa in his palace and received his Royal blessings before proceeding to receive the decampees from APC.

Speaking while receiving the team, HRM Ntufam Emayip welcomed them and commended the state government led by senator Ben Ayade for the development strides the State has witnessed under his administration and assured that Cross River State has been PDP from the inception of this Democratic dispensation in 1999 and that the state and his people will stand by PDP.and Ayade in the 2019 election.

The royal father agreed that it is ethically and morally right that the northern part of Cross River be supported to complete eight years as the other two districts so that by 2023, power can return to the South and the circle continues, for peace, brotherly love and harmony in the state,.adding he wished the team well in what they come to do and a successful journey back to Calabar.

Earlier, the Party representative, and Chairman, Youth Mobilization, PDP, Cross River, Prince Ita Eke Effefiong, had briefed the royal father on the purpose of their visit to his domain, and explained that the administration of Senator Ben Ayade was committed to the total transformation of the state agriculturally, economically, socially and industrially to take the State to the next level and that all should support him to fully achieve his dream for the state.

High points of the defection activities was the bringing of brooms by the decampees and the public burning of the brooms to signify their dumping of APC for their original party, PDP, chanting of PDP slogans, among others.
