Member representing Ogoja constituency in State House of Assembly, Hon Peter Odinga Odey has called on the Federal government to use former head of state, late general Sani Abacha’s loots to refurbish and construct standard health facilities within the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
Known for his free-arms giving in the state, Hon Odey made this suggestion due to the level of decadency in the nation’s health sector that has left many lives gone without receiving proper treatment.
Although there are reports that the Federal Government will commence disbursement of the recovered 322 million dollars Abacha loot through Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) to 302,000 poor households in 19 states in July, however, it’s yet to be seen whether the money would be used on providing more health facilities.
The states include: Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Cross River, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarrawa, Anambra and Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDPs) in Borno.
However, Hon. Odey’s insistence on the need to utilised the most recent release of Abacha’s loots, was to ensure that more health centers and facilities are built for the good of Nigerians.
