Interview: I’m Not A True Super Star Yet – Teni

One of Nigeria’s musical stars that has stunned many lovers of music with her unique songs, most especially ‘Case’, Teniola Apata, better known as Teni Makanaki, in this interview with Voplink Media’s AUGUSTINE AKHILOMEN bares her mind on the support she derives from her parents and her target for 2019. Excerpts…

How will you describe your sudden rise to the music scene?

Well, I am so thankful to God for making everything possible for me. I am just happy to be in the music scene even though I never expected such quick rise. I think I give all thanks to God.

What is the brain behind the two singles you released this year, most especially ‘Case’?

I just believe that people love it. I didn’t expect it will be well received by Nigerians considering the numbers of songs that are always played on airwaves. I am so thankful for everything.

Anytime I perform the song, ‘Case’ everyone sings it word for word and I feel so delighted with the way it has been widely received.

When will you be releasing your album?

Hopefully by next year (2019).

How will you describe the support you derive from your parents?

Woow! The truth is my parents have been very supportive to my musical career and I am so grateful for them being there for me.

Do you think you have gotten to the height of your musical dream?

Not yet. I don’t think I have even scratched the surface yet. So it is still a long way to go for me.

What is the future like for you, Teni?

Only God can say but hopefully grateful and big.

What do you want your teeming fans to be expecting from you in 2019?

I am expecting all my singles to be out by next year and performing some of them on stage.

What do you have to say to your critics who say you are not fit to be on the screen?

Well, just keep watching and seeing how far I go.
