Hundreds of Boki sons and daughters have pledged their support and cooperation to work for the aspiration of Dr Asu Yakubu Shendam for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections.
The youths who convereged at Transcorp hotels in Calabar under the invitation of Dr Shendam, said the time for Dr Shendam to be elected into the National Assembly was now.
Shendam, who is the National Chairman of New Generational Party in Nigeria, used the occasion to call on all prospective aspirants willing to contest for elective positions in 2019 to approach the party and get a form for free.
He said that the gesture was to encourage mostly the youth to take active participation in governance.
The Boki-born Youth Leader is the immediate past National Youth President of Nigeria, and has once served as a Senior Special Assistant to Abia, Plateau and Taraba state Governors on Youth and Students Affairs and currently a Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade.
It would be recalled that in 2014, Shendam was nominated by the then President Goodluck Jonathan to serve as the Youth Delegate to the National Conference where he presented a paper on the rights of the Nigerian youths.
Born in August 6th 1980, to the family of His Royal Highness Chief Asu Osang Marculey, Natural Ruler of Njua/Kaku Ancient kingdom in Boki LGA CRS, Shendam believes that if given the opportunity to be voted into the green chambers, he will offer effective representation to his constituents by attracting developmental projects, youths empowerment, renovation of schools, affordable healthcare, educational support for students amongst others.
A few months ago, a socio-political group “Ikom strength” with structures across all the political wards in Ikom have also thrown their weight behind the ambition of Shendam, shortly after he donated over 30 motorcycle to his supporters in Ikom.
