The State Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade has tasked political leaders in the State to be good examples and sources of pride to those they govern and the society at large.
Governor Ayade, who was represented by the Honourable Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, gave the charge during Thanksgiving Service to mark the Democracy Day Celebration in the State, held on the 27th May, 2018 at St. Charles L’uanga Catholic Church, Essien Town, Calabar.
Speaking further, the Governor urged leaders to borrow a leaf from the Vatican, which according to him, represents perfection of how leadership should be and boasts an impeccable standard, worthy of emulation.
Prof. Ayade also quipped that for a government to have a stable democratic order, there must be spiritual economy, pointing out that the church bears the brunt of every unstable or failed political order.
He further posited that it is on this background that his administration has defied the odds and resolved to industrialize the State, expand government and ensure economic prosperity for the citizenry.
The Governor concluded with hearty felicitations to the Children, Nigerians and Cross Riverians.
In his sermon, the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Malachi Ephraim, who read from the book of Matthew 28:19 and 1 Timothy 2:2, with the second reading taken by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Archibong; called on all and sundry to support the Ayade-led administration, as well as pray for God’s enabling grace upon Governor Ayade to continue with the good work. The event also served as thanksgiving service for the Children’s Day Celebration.
The memorable event drew attendance from Members of the State House of Assembly, Members of the Executive Council, Special Advisers and other top government appointees. The event climaxed with prayers for the Nation, the children and the Government and people of Cross River State.
