The Cross Rover State Director General for Due process and price intelligence bureau,Hon.Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba, has eulogized the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Benedict Ayade for standing for quality when it comes to citing of infrastructural facilities, as evidenced in the world- standard projects executed thus far in every nook and cranny of the state.
The Director general gave this assertion at the conference room of the Due process and price intelligence bureau , Secretariat, Calabar, while holding a special meeting , in order to ensure that the execution of capital projects being embarked upon met with the required standard, with the ultimate aim of bequeathing a durable legacy to the incoming generations.
“I want to reiterate for the umpteenth time that Senator Benedict Ayade is synonymous with QUALITY, as manifested in the quality of amenities being put in place. It is therefore not an overstatement that local government is the closest level of government to the people; hence, our desired growth and development at the grassroots level, which invariably requires the commitment and sincerity of the operators.”
The DG further charged stakeholders to make a judicious use of their position, hinting that the commission had a record of all the professionals in the service, necessitating the need to prove their mettle as best qualified hands in the present circumstance.
“Therefore, we are not expecting you to compromise standard on good and quality job, or to carry out the projects haphazardly.
Nevertheless, since nobody is a repository of knowledge, it is incumbent on you all to liaise with your senior professional colleagues, where and whenever you encounter grey areas,”The DG stated.
While calling on the engineers to see the project execution as a litmus test which must yield the desired result, The DG reaffirmed that “any officer found wanting in the course of executing the projects would have the job withdrawn from him, and transferred to his subordinate.
Besides, the erring officer will be sanctioned by the Commission.”
Taking cognisance of the imperative of monitoring in this situation, the DG said that the commission had approved that experienced and seasoned members of the service should serve as MONITORS to inspect the projects and give necessary report as and when due. He then urged the officers to cooperate with the monitors, adding that “we shall all collaborate to ensure that the set standard is strictly followed.”
Earlier in his address of welcome, the DG , had appreciated the positive response of the officers and members, assuring them that the essence of the meeting was to ensure that the professionals keyed into the vision of Governor Ayade on quality service delivery, reminding them that people -oriented projects should be handled with all forms of seriousness, without giving any room for ineptitude.
