The Goodmen Incorporated Calls On Obong Of Calabar To Wade Into The Incessant killings In Calabar South


The Goodmen Incorporated, a social and philanthropic organization made up of men of Calabar South extraction have decried the spate of gang killings in Calabar South and have called on the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, to as a matter of urgency, wade into the killings troubling his domain by summoning a meeting of clan heads with a view to taking very drastic administrative and traditional actions geared towards bringing this evil to an end.
The spokesman of the organization, Essien Ita stated that the killings have become too much and the life in Calabar South is gradually grinding to a halt. People no more invest monies in Calabar South because of fear of being kidnapped or killed, businesses are relocating to the Municipality and the ones left are closing down, if this is allowed to fester the live in Calabar South will be lost to cultism.
He further stated that the Cross River State government have forgotten and have left Calabar South in the dark with no visible government project, and the darkness that pervades Calabar South at night as a result of lack of power supply helps in bolstering the activities of the killers.
The Goodmen Inc. is also calling on the Cross River State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade to look into revamping some of the decaying government infrastructure in Calabar South. The organization is of the view that the harsh and pathetic living condition in Calabar South is also a factor that breeds cultism.
