SENATOR Rose Oko, the Senator representing the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State at the weekend brought Ogoja to a standstill as she splashed empowerment items on constituents worth hundreds of millions of naira.
Senator Oko who called on beneficiaries not to sell the items but put them to good use said such items are good revenue generating products which should be carefully managed .
She listed the empowerment items to include thirteen vehicles, fifty five motorcycles, twenty seven tricycle, fifty generators, one hundred sewing machines, twenty seven grinding machines, one ground nut shelling machine and one vegetable oil mill, eight hundred bags of fertilizers are all revenue generating items which should be used to generate revenue to boost the income of beneficiaries.
She said she decided to include the groundnut Sheller when she saw Bekwara women peeling groundnuts with their finger and thought that the groundnut shelling machine will assist them peel groundnut faster and thereby facilitate the production of more groundnut in the area.
“This programme is an occasion for me to say thank you to my constituents for staying by me in 2011 and 2015 . I appreciate, the confidence reposed in me on both of those occasions which were under very difficult circumstances”.
She said during the past three years she had conducted a medical outreach programme where eighty surgeries for various ailments were carried out, donated medical equipment worth thirty million naira o hospital sin the district,
“Also between 2015 and 2017 I distributed science equipment, books, desk to thirty five schools, completed construction on fifteen classroom blocks in various schools in the district”.
Senator Oko also stated that she has imported dialysis machine for the treatment of cancer and diabetic and is waiting for approval from the state ministry of health so that she could complete one of the blocks at the General Hospital Ogoja and install the equipment.
“My dear constituents, each time you voted for me, I have done the much I can for the district, come 2019, I wan to let you know I will do more”. She told the teeming crowd.
Senator Ben Ayade the governor of the state said Senator Oko is one of the representatives in the district who has performed creditably and deserves support.
