C’RIVER: Hon Anyogo’s Sponsored Anti-grazing Bill Passes Second Reading, Set For Third Reading


The member, representing Yala

state constituency 1 in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Regina Anyogo has sponsored a bill that would prohibit open rearing and grazing of livestock within the state.

Known for her peaceful and diplomatic approach in addressing issues affecting her constituency, Anyogo has once assured that the government is on the verge of imposing a ban on open grazing in the state after an initial attack by the herdsmen on November 9, 2017.

With the bill having passed through the second reading at the house of assembly, it is expected that the amendment of the bill into law would usher in relief for most farmers within the state.

According to a statement released today, it reads:  A bill for a law to prohibit Open rearing and Grazing of Livestock and provide for the establishment of Ranches and livestock administration,  Regulation and control and for other matters connected therewith. Sponsored by hon Regina Anyogo, member representing Yala 1 state constituency has passed through the second reading today. The public hearing of the bill will be held in either Ogoja or Yala.
