C’River: Court Issues Warrant Of Arrest Of Richard Effah Ogometu


The Federal High Court in Cross River State has issued an arrest warrant to Richard Effah Ogometu for defrauding hundred of investors in the sum of N1.5billion.

This became necessary after Mr Richard failed to meet up with the stipulated date issued to him by the court to remit any outstanding payment to the investors he defrauded through his Swiss Golden Business on August 2018.

Besides, having failed to appear in court on May 21st, 2019, the judge however, issued a warrant of arrest once his whereabouts has been ascertain.

“Richard Effah Ogometu who stood as a shorty to his Wife Elizabeth Effah Arikpo defrauded hundred of investors who invested in SwissGolden business through her sometimes Aug. 2018 to the sum of about 1.5Billion surety his wife in the like sum of 100 Million on the 7th of March 2019, the court haven given her more than 4 months as requested by Elizabeth Arikpo Effah to settle and pay investors disobeyed the court order and stayed away from court proceedings today and absconded to unknown destination same with her husband who stood as Surety to her without any excuse to the court.”

In the words of Elizabeth Effah counsel. Mrs Nella Rabanna (SAN) who has always been representing her in court together with Mba Ukweni (SAN) sent a notice of withdrawal from the said matter today that after Elizabeth was granted bail some months ago she became incommunicado, no one has been able to reach her and she doesn’t call likewise . And so with such a client she can’t stake her integrity and Career she suffered to build for years and so opted out.

It is yet to be confirmed if MBA UKWENI (SAN) who is also a Counsel to Elizabeth Effah will continue in the said case as he equally refused to turned up in court today without any formal excuse or substantial reason today the 21st May 2019.

It was quiet unfortunate that no lawyer represented Elizabeth Effah Arikpo, the daughter to the Dean of graduate Studies University of Calabar, Prof Arikpo & Sister Inlaw to Prof Stella Attoe, former PDP board of trustee member and a Prof of Dept of History and Philosophy, University of Calabar, Calabar.
