As Cross River State gets set to host the world in December in the nation’s first capital city, Calabar, events to mark this year’s Carnival Calabar
2018, like the Christmas village will be inaugurated on Saturday 1st December, 2018 by His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.
Yesterday, Mr. Kenn Aklah, the Special Adviser on Event Management to Governor Ben Ayade who had for the past two weeks has been operating from the Christmas village, alongside the Special Assistant on Administration on Event Management, Mr. Noel Ugbong, said that I have relocated my office here to ensure proper supervision and speedy completion of the xmas village before its inauguration, shops have been concessioned to individuals with a view to create wealth and boast the economy of the state.
“We have segment for assorted drinks, native delicacies, recreational centres, Xmas shoppings (wears, accessories), good sanitary system and tight security arrangements are concluded”
“The inauguration will be proceeded with a street walk from the Rabanna Roundabout via Mary Slessor Roundabout to Ndidem Isang Iso Road (Marian) and then terminate at the Xmas Village to mark the year’s World HIV/AIDs Day which form part of the routine activities for the Calabar Festival” he said.
Anxious residents of Calabar metropolis and local tourist, when interview told the Xmas village Media Team that they’ve seen roundabouts along the carnival routes have been decorated sparklingly with colours and lightning, while buildings, fence and shops have also been repainted with the state colours, blue and white.
The dancers in various bands have been rehearsing at different locations, the DJs are getting their sound system tested and dusted, artiste (local and international) and comedians have been contacted and fully set to storm the Xmas village for a 32 day non stop fun…
