Following the ongoing Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board recruitment interview of teachers and security men in the State, Candidates have commended Governor Ben Ayade for approving the recruitment of 2000 Teachers and 500 Security men.
They described this laudable feat as a rare privilege and commended Governor Ayade’s efforts in ensuring that Cross Riverians are gainfully employed.
Speaking at the ongoing recruitment interview at Velos Commercial Secondary School, Ikom, one of the Candidates from Yakurr Local Government Area, Endurance Ibor said this development will take people off the streets and put food on their tables.
He commended the Board Chairman, Dr Stephen Odey for conducting a free and fair interview process devoid of bias, and further urged the Board to rid the system of quacks by employing qualified teachers who are registered members of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
According to him“Teaching is a noble profession with ethics and code of conduct, for you to be a qualified teacher, you must be a registered teacher. Meaning, you must pass through the examination of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria and obtain that certificate to ensure that you are qualified to practice in the teaching profession. What we have these days are quacks in the teaching profession because they did not pass through the proper process.”
Another candidate, Emmanuel Obongha, blamed the fallen standard of education on lack of credible recruitment process in the past which gave room for the employment of unqualified hands.
Obongha said that the interview exercise which involves practical assessment was a welcome development that will afford candidates the opportunity to display their skills and intellectual capacity.
In his words “This is what I have been longing to see in Cross River State, I must confess, this is the first time I am going for an interview where you are given an opportunity to display the purpose for which you applied for. The process is satisfactory, because from this interview SUBEB will be able to choose the best hands. They have done well, i wish what they have done in SUBEB will be extended to other Ministries so that they can have a productive man power.”
He further thanked the State government for reducing the unemployment rate in the Country.
The recruitment interview kicked off in the Central Senatorial District at Velos Commercial Secondary School, Ikom with Candidates from Yakurr LGA.
