The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Cross River State, Mr Eyo Ekpo says that the current leadership lacks the vision, capacity and patience to develop the state.

Mr Ekpo made the remark at the inauguration of the SDP executives in Calabar, saying that the state was at a cross road, a situation which required a more dedicated, determined and courageous governor.

The governorship candidate noted that it was time for Cross Riverians to come out en mass and rescue the state from the woods by using their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, to vote out mediocrity for integrity, accountability and a return to the path of progress.

He said “ SDP is the only alternative for Cross Riverians and Nigerians; and the expectation of the good people of Cross River State is that we have a governor, who has the capacity, one who is able and committed. We want a governor that is youthful, energetic, visionary and vibrant and I have all it takes”.

He charged party faithful to remain hardworking, dedicated and committed so as to take SDP to every nook and cranny within the state as well as ensuring that Cross Riverians take SDP as the only alternative to recover and rescue the state come 2019.

Also, the National Organizing Secretary, SDP, Mr Emeka Atuma represented by Prince Patrick Amethua stressed the party’s readiness to win the 2019 election, noting “our party’s preparedness to win Cross River and Nigeria come 2019 cannot be overemphasized. Our party’s ideology is not that of personal interest one for the common good”.

Similarly, the national woman Leader of SDP, Mrs Maggi Batubo enjoined women in the state to participate actively by bringing encouraging others to support and cooperation.

Batubo disclosed that SDP was the only political party to make provisions for the women by giving them a voice and opportunities.

She further described women as bridge builders, opinion moulders and icons of development, noting “women’s relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape is a do-without. Women have a major role to play in the growth and development of the State and the Nation in general”.

Another national official, Elder Isaac Ogona, the Assistant Secretary, South-South, also reiterated SDP’s preparedness to take over the leadership of Nigeria come 2019 and enjoined faithful to actively take the campaign every home across the nation.

The State Chairman of SDP, Chief Eni Ikpi, popularly known as “PLATO”, pledged the commitment of executives to deliver the party come 2019 and appreciated the national officers for saddling them with the responsibilities.
