Voplink Media can authoritatively report that the election petition tribunal seating today in Calabar granted an interim order in favour of Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo to, as a matter of exigency explore alternative measures to serve Chief Alex Egbonna the Notice of Petition.

It could be recalled that sometime last month, Rt. Hon. John Gaul who was the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency election filled a petition against his closest contender, Chief Alex Egbonna and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), challenging, amongst others the result of Ekureku Ward I&II where, according to Rt. Hon. John Gaul the figures declared by INEC’s Returning Officer exceeded the total number of registered voters vis-a-vis the total number of accredited voters in the said ward.

Voplink Media understands that the election petition committee has, since the reception of John Gaul’s petition, made legitimate attempts to notify the petitionees of the quarries before them; however, these several attempts, Voplink Media also understands have been fruitless.

It is in light of this, the petitioner, again requested the tribunal to seek other means to serve the petitionees the Notice.Granting the John Gaul’s request, the Tribunal in its today’s seating gave an interim order to issue and serve the Notice of Petition on Chief Alex Egbonna by pasting same at the Notice Board of the Tribunal and for a certified True Copy of the order attached to the petition be served on Chief Alex Egbonna through the State Secretariat of the second respondent, the All Progressive Congress.

The order which followed several failed attempts made by the bailiff of the Tribunal to personally serve chief Alex Egbona was necessitated upon the bailiff’s endorsement of non service which shows that several visits to the Chief Alex Egbona home and office in calabar to serve him with the petition proved abortive.
