ANTENATAL CARE SERVICES IN CROSS RIVER STATE REMAIN FREE AT PHCs ~ DR BETTA EDU.

The resident of Odukpani Qua Town of Odukpani Local Government Area on 27th November, 2017 received free medical care from the Wife of the Governor NGO; Mediatrix Development Foundation ( MDF) in partnership with Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency ( CRSPHCDA).

Speaking, the Director General of CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu said our first lady Dr Linda Ayade is truly out to make a difference. She has been reaching out to deprived communities and strengthening the health system in many ways. She said the the integrated health outreach by Mediatrix Development Foundation at odukpani, will afford everyone an opportunity to check their medical status and also get free medical consultation.

She said services like malaria testing and treatment, HIV testing and other related health services will be offer free while urging everyone to make proper use of Long Lasting Insecticide treated nets in their homes instead of using it for farming which is poisonous and very risky for their health.

Dr Edu noted that primary healthcare services is free across the State and they shouldn’t pay any ridiculous amount of money to any Health worker. When asked to pay, call my phone or that of the agency and report!

The DG who was very angry over the extortion of monies from the community for health services at some PHC facilities in Odukpani by some unscrupulous health workers gave out her phone number to the community to report any health workers demanding money for antenatal care or delivery henceforth.

 

She also informed the people to stop open defecation as the Wife of Governor, Dr ( Mrs) Linda Ayade is pleading with all to end open defecation in Odukpani because it is dangerous to our health as their drinking water may be contaminated by faeces.

She encourage the old men and women to always make use of the facility to constantly check their blood pressure to avoid complicated health issues or death.

Earlier Speaking,  Executive Director of Mediatrix Development Foundation, Jeffrey Adamade said this intervention which is one of the core mandate of the foundation will go along way to increase demand in health facilities across the State.

Mr Adamade called on all the villagers to inculcate the habit of checking their health status to avoid stories of had I know.

He said these services is bond out of Her Excellency, Dr Linda Ayade resolved to continually offer selfless services to the people of Cross River State.

Stating further, he said the foundation is intervening in many areas as part of their cooperate responsibility initiatives.

He mentioned the areas to be, Health through Free Medical Outreach and Human Empowerment Programme through skill acquisition,entrepreneurship training and talent development.

One of the beneficiary Mr Edet Edet Ekpenyong ( disable) said that the free medical outreach was the first of its kind in the area.

He thanked MDF, Primary healthcare Agency and the Governor’s wife for their immense support to the less privilege through their free outreaches.

According to him he was tested of malaria, HIV, B.P Check and also given mosquito net free of charge. Dr Ekpeyong and others were on hand for free medical consultation.

The Health outreach was well attended by the clan heads,chiefs and community as over 850 people were tested and provided health services for free.
