Resident Electoral Commissioner (INEC) Cross River State, Dr Flankland Briyai has assured the people that the 2019 General elections would be free and fair; devoid of political violence.
Briyai Stated this on Wednesday where he called on Cross Riverians to ensure that obtain their voters card in a bid not to be disenfranchise in the 2019 elections.
Having assured the people of his participation at the Cross River State Female Students Sensitization Campaign and Road Walk On Permanent Voters Card (PVC); A Tool For Choice of Leaders, slated for Saturday June 16, Mr Briyai also used the medium to challenge the women to get involved in politics in 2019 so as not to be left behind.
“Women are the society changer and I am happy to see Cross River Female making this move and for the first time. We should have self esteem and impact in our Society for a positive change.
“General Election come 2019 will be free and fair for all to see.”
Meanwhile, Vice President Student Union Government of Cross River State Univervisty, Comrade Martha Ayim, advised INEC to introduce the use of electronic voting ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
More so, the Vice President, National Association of Cross River State Students (NACRISS) worldwide and the founder of Cross River State Female Student Leaders Association, Comrade Ekpo Blessing has commended INEC for their success during past elections and hope 2019 elections would experience a huge success.
She however, urged the people to ensure they obtain their PVC at the collation centres or through their paramount rulers.
Although questions were raised on the possibility of some candidate who never campaign but still ended up winning the elections compare to others who spent resources campaigning.
In response, INEC advised them to focus on the present elections which they have promise to provide all modalities that would erase any form of manipulations from any politicians.
