*Lauds Gov. Ayade’s Performance In Cross River State
One of Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate vying for the Yala 1 State Constituency as member Cross River State House of Assembly, Comerade Emaluju Sunday Michael has assured his constitutes that he would restored power back to the grassroots where true government belongs.
A graduate of the University of Jos and a one time Student Union Government General Secretary, Comr. Emaluju was also the President of the National Association Nigeria Students (NANS) and the Personal Adviser to the National Chirman to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Council forum.
One of his key appointments was when he was appointed the former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on job creation.
The renowned activist, who has decided to change the tide against Regina Anyogo, the current Member, representing Yala 1 State Constituency, at the Cross River State House of Assembly, stated that he has the mandate of the people to represent his constituency.
He also called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to create a level playing field for all candidates and not grant automatic tickets to some candidates.
“My ambition is to restore power back to the people considering the fact that the people have been clamouring for change and that they have not been well represented. And this issue of one party system have been the ban driving our people backward; that’s why we have not been progressing.
“If you look at other state in the north, you will see that they have multiple party system. So there will be check and balances within the executives. So my people deem me fit a d all this while I have been doing secular politics and I believe it’s high time I come to my own constituency to contribute my own quota to the development of our people. That’s one of the reasons I am running for the seat, to bring power back to the grassroot so that the people can decide on what they want.
“I am not saying that Honourable Regina Anyogo has not done enough to better our people because I don’t like condemning people. But the truth of the matter is that the people want me to serve as youth in a different capacity and dimension.
“First and foremost I want to restore power back to the people through I will hold a town hall meeting in the eight wards in Yala 1 constituency where I will ask them of their demands. Through this means you can expect nothing but development.
“Without fear of favour I want to state clearly with evidence that the Cross River State North, where the Governor is from are not happy with the way they have been represented at the national and state level.
“First time in the history of the Cross River that we are having a Governor from the North and the North is not well represented. Nothing today can be said about North. Our road have been truncated dilapidated by this same administration where we said we produce Governor from.
“Apart from that, I am not really condemning the administration of Governor Ben Ayade because people knows what they want.
“I am not a member of the People so Democratic Party (PDP) so I won’t want to comment on the automatic tickets been giving to certain individual. But if I am to comment on strong terms, then I will like to condemn it because it should be free and fair primaries for everybody. Nobody is above it. Some people resigned their political appointment just to contest and you will now tell them that you are doing automatic ticket. It is not done anywhere. To me, I will want the national or state to reverse that statement so that there will be a level playing ground for every contestant.
